One-Day Amazon Jungle Tour in Anavilhanas
In the Anavilhanas National Park, an impressive archipelago of over 400 islands on the Rio Negro,
near the town of Novo Airão, about 2-3 hours from Manaus.
It’s one of the largest river archipelagos in the world, with flooded forests,
winding channels, and extraordinary biodiversity.
What do you do on the tour?
Boat exploration
You’ll navigate among islands, igarapés (small river channels), and igapós (flooded forests).
You’ll see unique landscapes: trees growing right out of the water, giant water lilies, and with a bit of luck, local wildlife like birds, monkeys, or pink river dolphins.
Jungle walk
You’ll go on a guided walk inside the Amazon rainforest.
The guide will point out medicinal plants, centuries-old trees,
animal tracks, and explain how the flora adapts to the river’s seasonal flooding.
It’s a chance to connect with the Amazon ecosystem
and learn how local communities use the forest’s resources for medicine, food, and building materials.
Wildlife spotting
Depending on the area and season, you may see monkeys, sloths, macaws, toucans, and other species.
Some tours include stops at spots where monkeys often come close, curious to watch visitors.
Typical lunch
At a floating restaurant.
